Superbowl Week... lets get drunk baby

You were all warned... I am lazy and procrastinate. Sorry for the delay. What is new with everyone? You have to love the weather here in New York, snow and rain later turned into ice on the floor... GREAAAAAAATTTT!!! Sarcasm is a talent, it is better in person because you can actually tell easier.

As for my life I did start hitting the gym again. It has consumed most of my time, but it feels oh so good. I have missed the soreness and the atmosphere. I hate going by myself but its a sacrifice that I need to make. I feel satisfied and so much healthier. Also my diet is a little better as I have started cooking more. My wallet is happier too, as I do not spend $10 a day on lunch at work everyday lol.

I kind of feel my life is pulling together without as many distractions. I have had a lot of help with my resume, so hopefully I can improve my job status. I'll keep updates and thanks are in order. I have TV in my room now! Simple as it is, you miss it a lot and you don't notice until you get it back. I can chill and watch a movie or watch the game in peace without my roommate masticating in my ear as I end up going crazy lol.

Yesterday I was at Johnny Utah's in the city, FUN! People were real cool and we got drunk watching people fall off of the mechanical bull, a couple more drinks and I was gonna be next on it. Tonight I am going out with my best friend since like the 6th grade, my boy Wilz! The Skinny is what its called, I'll let you know how it ends up.

Streak of Bad Luck:

OK I went to the Bronx (last Saturday was it?) visited my uncle and my cousins it was cool. Then I ended up out and about in a bar midtown, had some drinks talked a lot and had some fun. Moral of the story, I lose my scarf, hat and more importantly my house keys. There were times this week after the gym I come home and no one is here or around and I had to go back to wherever someone was to borrow the keys. Boy does it suck not being able to go inside the confines of your own house at will. I finally made a copy of my keys today!

Weekly Bet:

First off I'd like to explain at request of a reader who didn't quite get how the spread works. Lets use the example of the Superbowl. Las Vegas makes up a point spread because if not most people would just bet on the better team (otherwise known as the favorite, they are favored to win) and most of the time they would beat the lesser team (the underdog). This week the Pittsburgh Steelers are playing against the Arizona Cardinals. The Steelers are the favorites, naturally so the Cardinals are underdogs. Vegas is giving 7 points on the spread so it reads Pittsburgh (-7), Arizona (+7). So if you bet Pittsburgh they have to win, and do so by more than 7 points, so if the final score is Pittsburgh 24 Arizona 21, Pitt wins but then you add in the spread 24-7=17 so it ends up being 17-21 Arizona covers the spread. Arizona can lose by 6 points or less or flat out win. In the event where the score difference is exactly 7 points in the Steeler's favor it is considered a push. The score can be Pitt 28 Arizona 21, and since it is the exact number no one wins the person you are betting against (usually the bookie) or you.

2 weeks ago I went 1 for 2, as Arizona won but Baltimore failed to cover. Remember I had my bet with the ultimate stamp of approval on the two team teaser, that also hit. So if you took my advice you went 2 wins and 1 loss and you should be ahead.

This super Sunday, I am going to go for Arizona (+7). First off 7 points is pretty big for a Superbowl in my book, considering if the game is out of reach, what I call a gimme touchdown (one that doesn't really matter for the outcome of the game because the other team already won basically, so its almost as if they let them score) is very likely. But I believe the Cardinals can and should win this game flat out. Granted, I do hate the Steelers but their offense is shitty in my book. The big Santonio Holmes play last week was soooo horrible with a under thrown pass and a cornerback slipping and falling while Rothlisberger throwing across the field *gasp* horrific. Arizona's defense is better than Pittsburgh's offense, I think a great Arizona offense will even out with Pitt's great defense.

Talk to you next week hopefully with some new and exciting updates lol

Every night is Saturday Night... but I can't wait till Sunday Morning...

I love the song from the title.. K-Os - Sunday Morning.. Kind of wraps up this week for me, you can also construe it to describe my demeanor. I get a lil wild sometimes but I always revert to the equivalent of a lazy Sunday afternoon... well...

Welcome back folks, how are we this weekend?

Crazy week to say the least, I can say it has been fun. Thank goodness this is a 3 day weekend, (Shout out to Martin!) I have not slept very well the past couple of days lol. As I have stated before I am single so I refuse to discuss any females or acquaintances to avoid from shooting myself in the foot or if using updated terminology pulling a Plaxico (I hate you Giants fans lol). I am gonna go get my weekly haircut, cop some brewskis and park my keister on the sofa to watch my football. Anyone else excited that baseball season coming around, its only a couple of months before the Mets find a new way (or revert to the same choking methods of the two years past) to break my heart and my readers can vicariously live my pain and suffering.

I had a conversation with someone this week and we ended up talking about cartoons. I came to the conclusion that Scrooge McDuck was the strongest duck ever, someone should of tested him for roids or hgh. Remember he used to dive into a huge safe full of gold coins, swim effortlessly through solid gold coins. I don't know about you but I assume Phelps would have welts on his forearms for trying to do a backstroke through that shit lol. The icing on the cake he used to spit up the coins like 20 feet in the air like it was nothing, you ever tried spitting gum that far up? Don't even think about shooting a quarter that far... Is this what we are teaching our children? lol OK let me stop, this was a pointless paragraph but it shows you the random shit that goes on in my head.

Streak of Bad Luck:

My phone destroys itself basically, apparently it couldn't handle a large volume of calls or something. I could not dial out only text message, but I couldn't get in to my contacts either, and who writes down numbers on lil pieces of paper anymore? I only remember my moms number by heart. I go to Sprint (which I hate, T-mobile here I come) and they have to put my phone back to factory settings, I couldn't access my contacts list anyway so I LOST ALL MY NUMBERS NOOOOOOOOOO!!!! If you want me to have your number again please text me with your name, or just get at me somehow. On the flip side, at least I have a grace period where I don't have any numbers that I scroll over and ask myself every time I see it "hmmm I wonder to whom does this number belong to?" then I proceed to never call or receive a phone call from them.

Hooray football!!!!

Arizona (+3) over Philly -

I just really hate the Eagles and I'm just waiting for McNabb to start vomiting and getting tired, also you really cannot discount the home crowd in a closed off dome. I think Philly is overrated anyway. That Zona defense is kind of serious the past couple of games Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie is nasty. Boldin being back completing that trio of receivers (Fitz, Boldin, and Breaston) Asante better have taken care of that hammy this week.

Baltimore (+5) over Pittsburgh -

I also really hate the Steelers, thank my brother for that one. He gloats over his team and is so cocky that it pisses me off lol. Everyone in the world LOVESSSS the Steelers, me being the bastard that I am will go against the grain and put money on the Ravens... Plus every game between these two teams has been a dogfight, in fact history shows us that the last two games this season were won by Pittsburgh by 3 and then by 4 which given the points Ravens cover. Going back to '04 there are only 2 out of 10 games have been won by the Steelers by more than 4 points that's 80% chance of covering.

I honestly will stay away from the Zona vs Philly game it is too iffy for me, Ravens over Steelers I like, if that is too risky for you this is what you do: Two-Team Teaser you pick the Ravens and the over. Now you have Baltimore +11 and the total score between the two teams will have to be 28 or higher. Slap 100 on that and you don't even have to watch the game, you got my approval stamp on that.

The Introduction...

Hello all. I meant to start this blog on 1/1/09 to start fresh but, as my readers and those who know me may realize I procrastinate like there is no tomorrow... well actually like there is a lot of tomorrows lol.

The basics: Alex, Male, 24 Years Old, from Dominican Republic, Single, 5'10"

I don't know too much protocol of how the blogging world works besides what I have read so if it comes out unorthodox then so be it. This is just a form of expression and I figure this to be a modern day journal open to the world to look into my existence and possibly get good feedback and advice or at least entertain a soul or two.

I was born in New York and raised by my two parents in Washington Heights until sophomore year of high school and moved to Louisiana, not exactly the city of New Orleans but the area. I stayed there and finished college at the University of New Orleans (UNO for future references) with a bachelor's degree in business management. I moved back to New York ummm I would say November 2007 or so, the reason not so clear either. I moved for no apparent reason, I had nothing tying me down, I had just finished quitting my job after I finished school, had no girlfriend or kids, and I just kind of wanted to try it up north again. It was basically on a whim and said "Fuck It." I lived with my parents forever then when I moved I was living in my uncle's house in the Bronx, but recently I moved out and live with a couple of roommates in Queens.

I always loved to write essays n whatnot in school and when I talk I sometimes ramble on, so the grammar may not be perfect but I finally get to see if this scratches the itch. Shout out to my boy cane for motivating me to start doing this (check him out at http://Whoiscane.blogspot.com), hopefully it turns out enjoyable.

I consider myself a well rounded individual in every aspect. I guess everything boils down from music; I listen to a wide variety ranging from rock, hip-hop, r&b, alternative, bachata, merengue, salsa (unfortunately salsa I cant dance...yet), acoustic, yea even throw in some techno or whatever as long as it's good music I'm in there like swimwear. My iPod on random really is random.

Music in turn leads to style. As far as clothes I changed a lot since I was younger, no more baggy pants for me lol... I do the t-shirt jeans and sneakers, all the way through shirt and tie. I feel as there is a time and place for everything, the situation mostly dictates the dress code.

I am huuuuuuuuuge on sports. My favorite teams are the New Orleans Saints, New York Mets, LSU Tigers (this is the sister school of UNO, my alma mater), and the New Orleans Hornets. I despise people who have 3 different favorite teams (put all your eggs in one basket and either sink or swim damn it), and bandwagon fans (seriously who has their 3 favorite teams being the Lakers, the Cowboys, and the Yankees.... have a backbone for goodness sake). Another way I am highly connected with sports is gambling.... yes I am a degenerate gambler. My NFL pick for the playoffs so far were:

Wildcard weekend
(It was against the spread but I just forgot what they were)
Arizona over Atlanta ---- WIN
Minnesota over Philly ---- LOSS
San Diego over Indy ---- WIN
Baltimore over Miami ---- WIN

3-1 not too bad...

Divisional Weekend
Tennessee (-3) over Baltimore ---- LOSS
San Diego (+6) over Pittsburgh ---- LOSS
Giants (-4) over Philly ---- LOSS
Carolina (-10.5) over Arizona ---- LOSS

sigh... 0-4 bad weekend lol

Championship games will be predicted later on in the week along with any bets I make to have a testament to my bad luck...

By the way I am an unlucky bastard, the documentation of this begins now!

Welcome to my life...
