The Black Keys Concert

First of all, I heart The Black Keys. Brothers is probably my favorite album of the year so far.

Date: July 28th, 2010
Time: 9:00 AM
Place: Terminal 5

I took maybe 2 pictures with my cell phone and a couple seconds of video, but I didn't want to be "that guy." All in all, the concert was awesome. Performed great, sounded incredible, totally rocked out... but thats not how the night started.

Probably around 5:30 I leave work, it was on a Wednesday unfortunately, and head out to Bourbon St Bar and Grill at 46th St between 8th and 9th ave. I walked in the bar by myself while I waited for my friend Brian to arrive. While by myself I always feel weird, if I order a drink will the bartender think I'm a drunk or are people looking at me like a loser for being solo. Blah. Brian arrives, and we start to destroy the Happy Hour drink menu. We take down in order: Spiked Arnold Palmer, Margarita, and a Mint Julep. My girl arrives half way through our first stop.

We walk to 48th and 8th ave to a place called Social Bar. I start with a bourbon and coke, the lady gets a sprite and vodka, and Brian wraps it up with a gin and tonic. I wasn't sure if the waitress is hot, she is kind of on the cusp. She definitely is ditsy, in fact I am sure she thought Brian was a pretentious prick because he laughed in her face at how slow she was... but seriously how hard is it to understand an order? Way too much food is ordered, we scarf down mozzarella sticks and hot wings. We get seconds on the drinks, and Johan Santana gives up 6 runs in the 1st inning. As we decide to leave me and Brian chug a gin and tonic together, through straws.

Take another little stroll down to 50th and 10th ave down to 1-2-3 Burger Shot Beer. This place is always so packed and so cheesy. Watered down drinks here for sure, we don't mind we need a break so we take orange tic tac shots, red headed sluts, Magic Hat #9, Bud Lights, and Jaegermeister shots.

Time for the show, we are pretty nice at this point. Joanna leaves, and we head out to the show. Finally. Terminal 5 is an awesome venue, a couple of "floors" that can see straight down to the performance area. We pretty much skipped the opening acts, chilled at the rooftop while he smoked cigarettes. Drank more beers, got me a t-shirt for $25... I consider it a deal because the poster was selling for $30 lol. It sounds so much better live, its a different sound and you can just feel it.

I was too drunk and into the show to actually write anything down or articulate what I remember. Just know that it was worth it and if you like The Black Keys, come with me to the next show and have a just as fun night.

The night wasn't over for me, I knew if I went home I wouldn't be able to wake up and make it to work. Brian couldn't hang so I went on a solo mission. Hit some random dive bars by myself while ordering some beers until they closed. Then hit up a diner and booked it to work (first time I was over a hour early) and conversed with the doorman at my jobs building. Horrific experience, I know I'm older because I used to break night like nobodies business. I was passing out every 30 seconds.

Well it has been nice to post after such a long time. Sorry it was more about my night than the actual concert, but isn't that how it should be? You should make the night, not the concert making you enjoy yourself. Of course it doesn't hurt to see a great show. (Cliche enough?)

Cheers.

Week 2...

So last week, I gave my money away to Tropix bar in Queens to watch my games... This week? DirecTV NFL Sunday Ticket welcome to my house.

I have a setup planned, which includes 2 TV sets in the living room and 1 in my room. The cables in my room can reach the living room so I will have 3 games going at once while throwing back some beers with my cousin and whoever else comes through... of course whoever comes has to put some up to help me pay for my service.

I DESTROYED AT FANTASY... 117-56 2nd highest total in the league (1st had Eagles D and Adrian Peterson) I had great balance, this is even with Santonio Holmes and Jeremy Shockey on my bench... NOT THIS WEEK!

Now back to my subpar performance last week...

8 out of 16 unacceptable (2 Monday Nighters killed me)... it shall not happen again, I needed to get acclimated with the way teams have declined/improved this year at first glance

Oakland +3 at Kansas City-
Da Raiderrrrrrssss looked real impressive Monday Night... Matt Cassell might play? Well blah, I'm taking the points on this one... Watch out for Louis Murphy rookie WR from Florida he impressed me in preseason despite a few mental errors, and did it vs the Chargers as well...

Houston +6 1/2 at Tennesee
If the Texans couldn't handle the Jets D, they should get shut out in this one... plus Jeff Fisher had 10 days to prepare for them... TITANS HEAVY

New England -3 1/2 at New York Jets
Brady sure seemed to shake off the cobwebs late and looked like himself, didn't he? I'm not convinced by the Jets yet, let's go Pats again... don't make me look bad again!

Cincinnati +9 at Green Bay
Palmer couldn't score on the Broncos, and against Green Bay what will he do? Let's be serious, also home field advantage in Green Bay will help the Packers cover.

Minnesota -10 at Detroit
Peterson has to not prove it to me this week (I play against him in Fantasy this week... I hate it lol) Don't be fooled, the 27 Detroit scored 7 was on a fumble recovery ran back for a TD, and a punt return to the 18 yard line ended in a TD and a kickoff return ended in a field goal... 10 points were on real offense. Vikings HEAVY!

New Orleans PK at Philadelphia
WHO DAT!? WHO DAT!? WHO DAT SAY THEY GON BEAT THEM SAINTS!? Refer to above explanation, defense is better. Since Greg Williams became DC including preseason every game has had 3 forced turnovers. Oh yeah Mr. Drew Brees has a golden arm, if McNabb doesn't play then go EXTRA HEAVY

Carolina +6 at Atlanta
I hate Matty Ice and his nickname, I see Steve Smith exposing the Falcons weak secondary... if DelHomme doesn't implode again... Last year every all NFC South game did not go higher than 3 1/2 point spread, the way I see it if the Panthers don't win they will cover.

Saint Louis +9 1/2 at Washington
Jason Campbell sucks... Coach Spagnolo is familiar with the Deadskins (do you see where I'm going here?) Also last week 2 out of 4 teams with 10+ point spreads covered, which is 50%... I'm rounding this up to 10 and saying the Vikes will be 1/2 to cover a big spread (leaving it at 50%) Rams on this one

Arizona +3 at Jacksonville
Cardinals give me a reason to believe in your team please. Jaguars can't even have homefield advantage if they can't sell out the stadium. Arizona in a lackluster game

Seattle +1 1/2 at San Francisco
Both impressed last week... Seahawks even had Julius Jones rushing well, he wont Vs. a better 49er defense buuut Hasslebeck has a lot more weapons and an equally good linebacker core (even though Pat Willis >>>>> 99% of mlbs)

Tampa Bay +5 at Buffalo
Bills won't have to choke on Monday Night, again, this time... Buccaneeers still suck. If Bills can get pressure on Tom Brady why wont they do the same to the statue known as Leftwich. BB here.

Cleveland +3 at Denver
Broncos defense surprised, Browns looked like... well, the Browns. Let's all hope Orton's finger is better so he can reach it to Marshall. Broncos barely cover

Baltimore +3 at San Diego
Chargers at home... Kansas City somehow put up 28 on the Ravens, and we all know Chargers > Chiefs by a mile or 3. San Diego better show up!!

Pittsburgh -3 at Chicago
Cutler is looking to break Favre's total interception record in a single season... Polamalu out will hurt but not more than Urlacher's absence seeing as Steelers have a totally better unit. Steelers here.

New York Giants +3 at Dallas
TAKE THE POINTS PLEASEEEE TAKE THE POINTS. Gmen will double whatever Tampa did on the ground last week (WHICH WAS A LOT!!!) Giants HEAVY

Indianapolis -3 at Miami
No brainer, Colts.

May the gamble be with you...

On the run updates...

It always seems like I don't have time anymore it stems from anything like working late the last couple of days, to hitting the gym, to going out and drinking. But enough of my complaints/excuses and lets follow-up on my last entry.

I did take Alabama -6, I was nervous at times and I felt like they should have won by at least 5 touchdowns... but because of this it stopped me from betting on LSU (We won, but didn't cover the spread) since I was not sure if Alabama would cover.

As far as my fantasy team, which I proudly named TheMostInteresting TeamInTheWorld abbrev. DosX, here goes the Roster:

QBs: Tom Brady, Brett Favre (I hope he only sees my team on Brady's bye week)
RBs: Pierre Thomas, Kevin Smith, Knowshown Moreno, Jamal Lewis, and Jerious Norwood
WRs: Randy Moss, Vincent Jackson, Lance Moore, Santonio Holmes, and Domenik Hixon
TEs: Antonio Gates, and Jeremy Shockey
D/ST: Vikings
K: Neil Rackers

I'm a lil weary about my rbs, but I'm confident a gem will come around (a couple do every season) that I might get my hands on, also my WRs make up for the slack. I am also a tad bit salty that I sat Santonio Holmes this week and he had 14 points in the 1st half but I got faith in my other receivers.

As far as the Lines go this week:

I took the Steelers -6 (I bought the half point but it's not helping since it's tied 7-7 3rd Quarter) the reason I took them was, home game of the season coming out fired up... plus they always get the calls *coughs*Right Seattle?*coughs*

Sunday's Games:

Miami +4 over Atlanta-
Matt Ryan sophomore slump starts Sunday... Also ATL's D is soft
Baltimore -13 over Kansas City-
Better offense for Ravens, and do I really need to explain this?
Carolina +2 1/2 over Philly-
Eagles are so overrated IMO & they don't take advantage of the Panther's biggest weakness since Keamatu (DT) got injured for the year, RUNNING THE BALL!
Cincinnati -4 over Denver-
Bengals with an underrated defense, and Denver with... umm... yea
Minnesota -3 1/2 over Cleveland-
No brainer, kind of feel likes a trap/sucker bet, but Peterson puts my worries to rest.
Houston -4 1/2 over NYJ-
Rookie QBs normally don't normally do great like Ryan and Flacco last year...
Jacksonville +7 over Indianapolis-
Jaguars are going to be better this year, probably wont win but I expect a close game... expect the downfall of the Colts to start happening this year
New Orleans -13 over Detroit-
Refer to last year's blowout... Plus, I'm a homer GEAUX SAINTS!
Dallas -6 over Tampa Bay-
Just picture Ware hounding the slow release of Byron Leftwich... Yeaaaa now you feel me.
San Francisco +6 over Arizona-
Division game, Superbowl loser let down... Be careful of the Madden Curse also...
Washington +6 1/2 over NYG-
Eli to revert to pre-Superbowl form without Plax (You saw last year) especially against this good defense.
Seattle -7 1/2 over Saint Louis-
Rams suck... Hasselbeck will bring the Seahawks back to respectablility.
Green Bay -3 1/2 over Chicago-
The only A-Rod who will perform well in the fall... Bears need to prove it to me, Pack will be strong

Monday's Games:

New England -10 1/2 over Buffalo-
Brady to Moss baby, for my fantasy purposes at least... Back to the 16-0 days...
San Diego -9 over Oakland-
Tomlinson historically kills da RAIIIIDERRRRSSSS... especially since preseason showed they can't stop the run... also revert back to last year's blowouts.

Till next time folks... May the gamble be with you

Tis the season...

No, not Christmas.... FOOTBALL SEASON BABY!

I'm doing this on the fly as I am on a College Football binge right now... My poor Mets have been cursed this year, the injuries were uncanny. Frankly I'm surprised that I didn't get injured by watching them lol. I've had my slight fix with Madden '10 (PS3 online name = AlzSpyder) but now its on like donkey kong.

LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints all day.

This Tuesday or Wednesday will be my Fantasy Football Draft, 12 team league. I will post my roster as soon as it is done.

Gambling yay! I just took Alabama over VaTech -6 1/2, if I win that I'll take LSU over Washington -18...

Tomorrow or when I post my Fant League roster I'll tell u about my NFL bets.

I hate people...

It's been a while... as usual, I know my act of disappearing is getting old.... oh well

Well I just feel like going on a rant or two.

This all started with my friend sending me a message, which stated "We just found out that NY rapper Tru Life has turned himself in last night for a 1st degree murder charge. Our prayers go out to Tru and his family."

Read it, now digest it...

My first thoughts were "What The Fuck!?" As my high school physics teacher used to say all the time "Yea, they got people in this world" (A saying I use very often nowadays)

After the wheels started turning, I thought perhaps I am the problem... Am I too old, out the loop or are people just dumb? Then I came to my senses and thought "I Hate People..."

Why do prayers go out to a person who killed someone else? I. Don't. Get. It. What is wrong with society when people feel bad for a murderer? Have the masses got that caught up with fame, images, persona's, or music that they have a total disregard for life or the law to feel sorry for someone who has brought his fate upon himself. How about getting it right and pray for the VICTIM AND HIS FAMILY!!! (http://www.vladtv.com/blog/194/exclusive-tru-life-charged-with-1st-degree-murder-turns-himself-in/ if you want to see that actual people wrote that) I assume the youth consumes all the so-called code of ethics in the rap community and as gullible people do, take it to the extreme.

As I aired my frustrations with my good friend, who happens to be a professor, and he hits me with the cliche "you're getting old." I thought about it... and he's probably right. Started talking about how I used to wear the baggy ass clothes and swear I never would stop but obviously everyone grows up. This then turned into today's style which I find pretty ridiculous... Mostly it's the youth (of course they have exceptions) but doesn't anyone learn from history?

These yellow, red, or orange skinny jeans are horrible! I am cool with the fitted jeans, I wear them, if you prefer spandex type jeans go for it. The retarded bright colors kill me. Anyone remember the Parasuco's back in the day with the green stripe? Yea it was hot back then, now you realize wow I looked like a douche... and yes in a year or two your neon green skinny's will go to the back of your closet. 4 years comes the denial, "nah I didn't rock those, I knew they were horrible." Is it so hard to just look decent? A shirt and some regular jeans, it's not necessary to stick out like there is no tomorrow. Odds are if you dress normal you might actually stand out as everyone looks like they came out of the same bag of tropical skittles nowadays.

People in general go overboard... Micheal Jackson passed away, in case you did not get the memo. Someone dying is never a good thing, but neither is overexaggerating. Now let's all be honest no one was listening to MJ on a regular basis, no one was going nuts over him anymore. Why are people acting like their best friend just died? This past weekend at a club a group of people chanted for the song "Thriller" as the last song... anyone would of done this 2 weeks ago and people would say this person is a weirdo (unless this is that Jennifer Garner movie 13 Going on 30). Was all the crying necessary? Who misses him so much, because more than likely you did not know him personally, all you had was your albums and youtube clips... guess what? You still have those, stop complaining. Everyone also fails to mention him being a pedophile anymore sort of like a sacrilege... I understand to let him rest in peace but lets paint the whole picture here his money and status let him live his life...

Of course this has been prevalent through recent times from O.J. to Donte' Stallworth... Let's talk about Stallworth for a second. This man was speeding while drunk and high then he ran over and killed a man. Of course his salary and lawyers were able to get him 30 days worth of jail time, 2 years probation and permanent suspension of his license... Wow, good job judicial system! /end sarcasm... I don't care if the man was jaywalking or moonwalking down the street, no money settlement out of court should help him get a lighter sentence because guess what? If I do this, just wave goodbye while I prepare for at least a quarter of my life with a butt plug in my new home.

On the same note, Michael Vick got 2 years for dogfighting (yes I understand he got more time than his cohorts because of the gambling involved and bankrolling the operation) but I find it totally dumbfounding. Jail time for doing something, that if he was in Mexico or any 3rd world country, would make him king. He was made an example of to satisfy PETA... why is PETA so powerful? Because they can protest everywhere, blah give me a break, in Dominican Republic there is cockfighting, in the Philippines they eat dogs. People please stop being ethnocentric and notice that everywhere else in the world animals are animals, not little toys that are kept in purses and annoy the shit out of me STOP PUTTING THEM ON A PEDESTAL. While I'm on the topic of the court system, why must I call the Judge your honor? What honorable act have they done that I'm not aware of? In traffic court I know they let lawyers go first because they know the process, but what the hell I'm not a moron I don't appreciate making me waste my whole day while the people who get paid to be there leave early...

On another note, someone I don't hate so much blogs as well, my boy from St. Louis his site is http://nbainstl.blogspot.com/ <--- A lot of facts, very knowledgeable trying to vie for a NBA team in his city (even though he is a Laker fan lol) As I watch the St. Louis Cardinals walk off home run in extras vs San Fran (07/01/09) I realize why I hate him... 2006 NLCS vs Mets ughhhh *disgusted* lol

Hate ties it all back together...

I haven't forgotten about the blog!

Hey what's up world? A lot of time has passed since my last blog...

I'll start with St Patrick's Day since it's here in my mind. I took the day after St Patty's off because I knew there was no way I was gonna make it in (last year was a miracle lol) So I start by working my dreadful 8-5 job (change is coming baby!) and as soon as I'm done I change into regular clothes and leave my slacks n shirt... As I go to wait for my cousin Eddy and our boy Weimar from Jersey I decide to buy a generic "I *clover* NY" t-shirt. When they finally get there, another guy named Chucky meets up with us also. We go end up sneaking in a side door to go in an armory, its a party for Marines who just came home from Iraq (Shoutout to the military!) we ended up getting free drinks... thats the start, we ended up taking like 8 bottles out while we argued about Madden with each other. We leave the same side door, and the street is closed off so we just start drinking the bottles there causing a ruckus, and some heads start smoking and I stick to my liquor.

A couple of blocks down after we end up at another bar, the name escapes me, as we take shots of Jameson and whatnot... the fellas pull out the bottles and start pouring their own drinks lol... *sigh* so they get kicked out, drama ensues. As the fellas are outside shit talking begins, a guy gets his chair flipped while he's sitting down, no retaliation... People from Jersey are reckless lol. I end up taking a $47 cab to Jerz and we end up getting even moooore twisted. I don't want to bother you all with my drinking, overall top 5 day each year in my opinion.

Interjection: World Baseball Classic Final is going on right now bottom of the 5th inning, Japan v Korea 1-1 this is a great game. Also I'm growing this beard, and I love it! I'm going for at least another month and seeing how it goes, I rub it for good luck lol.

Friday night we'll come back to in a second.

Saturday night go to see comedian Daniel Tosh live. Awesomeness! I end up in the Bronx getting my drink on. Sunday with the cousins and my boy Hex we get our Dominoes on and we RAKE UP! We want to start a round robin tournament for at least $50 a head, let me know if anything. Me and Hex are undefeated indoors lol.

Back to Friday though... I got free tickets to see the Knicks so since I was there I was like fuck it, I'm a Hornets fan so to keep my interest up let me gamble on the Knicks who were -9 against the Sacramento Kings. Sactown had won 0 Eastern Conference games prior to me betting on the Knicks and of course they got their 1st win against the hapless Knicks. Thank goodness I took only halftime at -5 and still lost lol. Of course I try to make my money back so I take the safest bet which was Wake Forest over Cleveland State, the moneyline was -380... I took it to win 55 which was 210 and you guessed it! UPSET CITY, next day I came back with a 3 team teaser with Oklahoma over Michigan, Lakers over Bulls, and Duke over Texas.

I will get a copy of my bracket up to show everyone what I have going, I'm still alive so I'm happy.

I will be honest, I started this entry a couple of days ago so I have gotten sidetracked, I forgot where I was going with this. Knowing me, I'll remember afterwards and do a short entry. I have been out and going different places, sleeping on various couches and different peoples houses lol. The finger toothbrush is unfortunate, but it has been done a lot this week lol. I'm starting to think if I should just stop paying rent and just keep sleeping on other peoples couches. Probably not, but hey...

Also, guess what everyone? I start bartending school this Monday!!!! I am serious about this too, you need to come to my spot when I get my gig .

Beer on Topic

Leinenkugel's Sunset Wheat

This is beautiful, I love it personally. It taste just like Fruit Loops. Think about it, ponder a little longer, and now doubt me. It doesn't taste like fruit loops with milk and whatnot lol, more like fruit loops with a beer taste; hard to imagine I know but when you drink it you know what I mean. It is great, trust me, get back to me if you try it.

Misery loves company... I stay to myself...

Lazy is not the word... I'll save face and say it's because I've been so busy that I have not blogged.

Yesterday I did some major Man-scaping... got my manicure and pedicure on (for those who don't know, yes I am straight I just like to keep myself up) it always feels so judgemental as a guy when you walk into a nail shop, all eyes on me... that's why I search for the emptiest one usually. After, I proceeded to shave my chest/body, and felt my confidence multiplied by at least 5 lol. Hitting the gym has been pretty good, I have packed on a few pounds (of muscle presumably) since I started up again. I have yet to purchase supplements which is encouraging (PROGRESSION!!!), the only downside is that my impeccably smooth hands started to peel and get rough due to the ridges on the weights. No need to panic world, as I have solved the problem by buying workout gloves at Modell's today. Lol I'm acting like David Duchovny in Zoolander...

I try to speak to my parents a good number of times per week as they live in a different state (I miss them a lot). To make a short story shorter, while speaking to my pops naturally I was watching basketball. My New Orleans Hornets vs the Orlando Magic (Chris Paul is the man by the way 36 10 and 6 in 33 minutes) and simultaneously as my dad was mentioning how I am missing Mardi Gras, ESPN cuts to some parades/floats and people throwing out beads. I came to realize how easily I detach myself from every and anything.

It has been approximately a year and a half since I moved from Louisiana (mind you I have vacationed there about 2 months ago) and I already forget one of the most fun, memorable and unique events of a place I love. How do I distance myself from a place that I consider my hometown, and so quickly!?!? Is my memory so bad (it really is bad at times)? Lack of attention to detail and not noticing? Good theories, but the best I could come up with is that as a pessimist the more I dwell on things the harder I take it. I loved living in Louisiana (alliteration anyone?) and the more I sit and think about the good times, I come back to the great people and times I covet... then I overwhelm myself and miss it more than I should (I am a man of extremes lol). I look on Facebook and see how old classmates of mine are still good friends with each other but everything is new to me, granted I technically went to 6 schools in 5 years in 2 different states but I seem like the odd man out. I always used to say how I hated making new friends because odds are, you will lose them in time.

I'm like that with females I have been involved with as well. I always try to go forward not backwards in relationships and once it's over, it is over. I do my best to quickly get over things and move on. Time goes by fast and I don't want it passing by me while my mind is stuck in 2nd gear. Things happen for a reason and you might find out that reason if you dig deep enough, but rarely do you find the treasure you seek. Whatever the reason might be, you already know it did not work... time, places, weather all change, people don't (very rare, and it would take way too much convincing to believe, especially with me not having much faith in people as it is nevermind if they've already betrayed my trust, that it's probably not worth the time for said person to show they have changed).

Bottom line is that I deal with things my own way. Sometimes my nature of overbearing pride and stubbornness blinds even myself from how I operate. That said, I love sitting back and smiling at the memories good or bad (nostalgia is a magical thing) and feeling the rush of emotions hit me as I give a stare blankly at nothing. I need to dedicate more time for me to reflect, hindsight is 20/20 and I can learn more about myself, my surroundings, my acquaintances and how to deal with similar situations in the future. It sounds impossible as I barely have any time in my busy schedule (apologies to my friends who hit me up, I haven't gotten back to as much as I should), but I know I can move "Being Lazy" and "Doing Nothing" time to a different slot or combine the two. It'll help me in the long run I assume.

Streak of Bad Luck:

Keeping it short and simple as this was a long blog... The lifeline that is my iPod now only plays one side of the headphone, its killing me! :-(

WILLZ WHERE YOU AT!?!?! I DEFINITELY NEED YOU TO FIX IT (Also shoutout to my boy Willie P, he signed up for the Marines and passed his entry exam thingy... Good Luck and God Bless man...)

Weekly Bet:

AHHHHH Football season is over, technically at least (I love FA, the Combine/Draft, etc) so there goes that, "but wait NBA is on and MLB follows shortly thereafter..."

Sorry fans, but I won't be doing NBA or MLB picks because the line comes out usually a day or so before the game, and me not knowing what is going to happen in a week or if a injury occurs etc, I will refrain. If you argue I can do picks for games that will be played the next day.... ehhh it'll be outdated as I take forever to muster up enough crap in my mind to write these blogs.

Instead I will be doing...

Weekly Beer:

I love beer! (YESSSSSS) I do try various kinds, and I typically know the standard beers everyone drinks so I will avoid them. The trick is I will head to a bar, drink a few and if it is worth reporting it will make the blog.

In semblance of the blog, and in honor of Louisiana, (and the fact I did drink and introduce friends to this beer recently) enter....

PURPLE HAZE

http://ridgeviewliquor.com/abita%20purple%20haze.jpg (link to see a pic of the bottle)

This beer is made by Abita, brewed in Abita Springs, Louisiana

Raspberry wheat brew, delicious and flavorful (fun for the whole family!) Next week I'll go into detail of the beer taste and stuff, but I'm tired now...

(I felt very introspective on this... also, hope everyone enjoyed my gimmick of what it seems like a million parenthesis for commentary lol)
